Keynote Speaker

May is the Global Director of Commercial, Legal and Digital Risks at international engineering firm, BuroHappold, and is a senior construction lawyer of over 19 years’ experience. 

She is recognised as a leading legal specialist in digital and construction technology.   She has a passion for innovation in the industry and has co-authored various documents in this field, including the CIOB AI Playbook; the ISO19650-compliant Information Protocol and the CDBB’s Digital Twins Roadmap and Digital Twins Toolkit Report.  She is also the chair of the industry group IM4Legal. 

May is the winner of a number of awards, including Best Women in Construction Law in the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2020, was named as one of the Construction Idols by London Build 2022, and the Compliance Innovator award at the highly regarded Lexology European Counsel Awards 2023.

What the Annual Conference covers

The conference brings together key players such as contractors, specifiers, engineers and more; to discuss some of the most thought-provoking topics affecting the sector. Last year, award winning journalist, Peter Apps took to the stage as the keynote to speak about the Grenfell Inquiry and the Building Safety Act, just one of the many topics discussed on the day.

The BESA Annual Conference 2025 will be held at The Brewery in London. The Brewery is located at 52 Chiswell Street EC1Y 4SD, it is easily accessible from the Circle, Metropolitan & Hammersmith & City lines. Your closest tube station is Moorgate. 

If you’re travelling into London via train these 3 lines are easy to find at both Euston & King's Cross train station. At Euston just step outside and head to Euston Square tube station. King's Cross is even easier, you don't have to leave the station to find the King's Cross St. Pancras tube station.
